Birth Story Writing Circles

Storytelling is medicine: a powerful mode of community building & of self excavation. Whether you are healing from a traumatic birthing experience, ecstatic about your birth, or some combination of both, birth is something we process and return to for a lifetime. The ritual of chronicling can be a powerful form of meaning making that can help integrate the transformative and inherently liminal experience of the journey that is birth. Creating externalized representations of your birth can also provide deeper perspective to your story, allowing for a distance that can be helpful, especially if it was an overwhelming experience.

Your story matters. I can wait to witness you coming home to it.

In this facilitated series of 4 sessions, an intimate cohort of participants will process and document their birth experiences. Step by step, Robina—a midwife with a decade of birth experience in multiple settings, and a former professor of English—will nurture you as you identify key moments of your birth in small, digestible pieces. We will move back and forth between remembering the past, understanding its relationship to your body in the present, and contextualizing it in the narrative of your life. This is a safe container that balances being held and encouraged by community and time to focus on our writing independently. Sharing is always optional, and well-guided.
