A place of rest, joy, and mutual nurturance in the mountains of Vermont.
Welcome. Prepare to be rejuvenated.
Situated on unceded Abenaki land, and nestled among birch trees and a rushing brook in the Green Mountain National Forest, you’ll find a grey house with a rainbow of Adirondack chairs. Inside, the 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom house welcomes you with everything you might need to unwind, from a fully appointed kitchen to a curated library to a jacuzzi tub and fireplace. A 5 minute walk away will have you swimming in indoor and outdoor pools, soaking in a hot tub, playing tennis or basketball, or hiking a gorgeous US Forest maintained trail to a summit that overlooks the entire Deerfield Valley. Drive down the mountain and you’ll be able to swim in reservoirs, lakes, rivers, and waterfalls; ski, snowboard, and sled; hike some more; check out sweet villages and towns; and soak up the wonder that is Southern Vermont.
This place is magic.
Over the last three years, our beloved Green Mountain House has been a place of delight and comfort, and a balm to the nervous system, for so many. We’d love to share that experience with you.
More than a peaceful, nourishing experience, The Green Mountain House exists for expanding community. The price of your stay aids in maintaining the property so that we have the opportunity to offer the space to systematically oppressed/ historically marginalized folks who do not have the resources to access to this kind of deep rest in nature.
The Green Mountain House offers a space to:
Relax
We are a family (and extended family!) friendly space. The house is 2230 square feet and three levels.
Comfortably sleeps 8-10.
There are three bedrooms: one room with a king-sized Tuft and Needle mattress, one with a Queen mattress, and one with two bunk beds (four beds total). There is also a Queen pull out bed in the lower level rec room, and a Queen futon on the upstairs landing.
There are two bathrooms. Bathroom one is located downstairs and has a shower, toilet, and sink. Bathroom two is located upstairs and has a jacuzzi tub, toilet, and sink. It is deep and great fun for adults and children alike.
Comfortable linens and towels (both beach and bath) are provided.
Fireplace.
Kitchen fully stocked with the equipment you need to cook, bake, and enjoy. We also provide a propane grill for outdoor cooking, and a small firepit for building outdoor fires and roasting marshmallows.
Dishwasher, washing machine, and dryer to make life easy.
Sunroom to write, relax, work, or workout in (yoga mat and foam roller provided).
And while we firmly believe in the importance of unplugging, we know sometimes life requires we stay connected. The Green Mountain house also provides reliable internet service, as well as a downstairs office and desk in the sunroom for when you need to connect, work, or write.

about us
Hey, we’re the KBs.
We are a Pakistani-American family of 6 who live in Brooklyn: Robina, Andy, Wren, Ilan, Josie, and baby Hanif. Robina is a midwife and writer; Andy is an Economist; the kids are musicians and artists; we all love road trip singalongs, Creamee Stand sundaes, and swimming even when everyone else thinks it’s too cold.
We found our way to the Green Mountain House in 2020, when our city was under lockdown. We, and many in our community, felt isolated and confined. So many we knew were not able to access time in nature, away from the pressure cooker conditions of NYC, particularly because of massive job loss and an inflated rental market outside of the city. But with Robina running around witnessing the babies that keep coming no matter the state of the world, we felt we were in a position to, literally, provide people with some breathing room. So we invested in the Green Mountain House. Since then, we’ve been able to share the comfort and wonder of the Green Mountain House with dozens of families and invidviduals. It has nurtured and restored the nervous system of us and so many people we know, and for that we are so grateful.
With a budget crisis at Andy’s university, Andy lost his tenured professorship, and we are no longer able to sustain this project alone. We are hopeful this represents an opportunity to bring the joys of the Green Mountain House to a larger community. That’s where you come in. We hope to find others who understand how beloved this space is, and who understand this isn’t about profit but a shared community project. We invite you to help us to continue sharing these comforts with those who need it most.
“I’ve been to the Green Mountain House twice now. Once in the winter and once in spring. Both times were an experience in relaxation and tranquility.
During the winter it is truly a winter wonderland. Something out of a story book. I spent mornings taking in the blanket of snow and cold air on the balcony. The quiet resets your nervous system. Especially as a family that lived in the city. The fireplace is such a cosy touch!
During the spring we went to every hike within walking distance and explored town. The hikes are great for the whole family. Very kid friendly. In town the people are so incredibly kind and welcoming. As a Black/Latino family traveling we always have to think about how we will be received in smaller towns. How safe we will feel. Both times I felt completely at peace.
Robina and her family clearly love this home. It is well cared for. Nostalgic and homey. I would, and will, definitely be coming back. ”
“We stayed at the Green Mountain House and it was such a joy! From the cozy furnishings to the beautiful property, it felt like a vacation to a family home. We appreciated the jacuzzi tub, the cozy bay windows to snuggle up with a book, and the peace and quiet of the neighborhood. We are excited to continue bringing our family back to the Green Mountain House for years to come.”
